In-short the law is too broad sword, was written by business oriented and needs the substantial revisions by highly technical people in the IT industry. Here's some basic information Stop Online Piracy Act. But don't just stop at wikipedia, please do the research and see for yourself, Then call your local US rep and speak out.

Life math 101

  • Engineering: 2+2=5.....huh.....must be a mistake in the math....um 2+2=4......ok.
  • R&D: we know 2+2= 4, what else can we do with it...2+2=5, no but maybe 3+1=4..ok that works.
  • Teachers: 2+2, yes, and also 2*2, 3+1, 5-1 , 4-0, 8/2 and so on, but since you didn't prove your work you get a B.
  • Carpenters: we saw your +2=4 outside and made this replacement 2, call and let us know if you ever want to refurbish it, here's my card.

subHooker is now OpenSource

I finally got some spare time and managed to upload subHooker to Google Code. subHooker is a great pre and post commit hook for subversion. It handles a lot of things, It runs on Linux and Windows. It makes the task of implementing subversion post commeit e-mail messages a snap. If you want to implement sub hooker or code in Java and are interested in contributing, check it out here:

Burn Up Chart, that wasn't in the brochure!

Well we're doing the burn down chart. What a great visual tool. Right away I realized we're continually underestimating the work load, thusly producing a nice chart that burns completely bass ackwards. “Burn up” charts anyone? We kid about it, but it can be a serious issue. In our case we're fortunate that we're new to tracking our time in actual hours. I’m hoping to see our next sprint’s chart go in the correct direction. We have a great team so I am confident that it will with some discipline.

Agile Development, my first notes.

I can't help but to brag a little, I mean what's not to like? I once worked in a poor environment, I was an engineer with little room to design anything in the fixed waterfall we had before us. It is the same story, I am sure, that we have all heard echoing in our ears... Feedback is far too little, far too late. Change is slow and cumbersome. But it was even more than that for me, stresses were much higher among our teams, "Quality and Validation" was some strange place on the other side of this big fence that we heaved our software over time to time. People were guarded...
